On 30th April 2023 in Ile-Apa community, Ilorin, Kwara State, our NGO conducted a health outreach program focused on diabetes and hypertension awareness and support for elderly individuals aged 30 and above. Our team of healthcare professionals and volunteers came together to provide free health screenings, educational sessions, and resources to empower seniors in our community to take control of their health.
The Need for Action
Diabetes and hypertension are two of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality among elderly individuals. Early detection and management are crucial to prevent complications and improve quality of life. However, many seniors in our community lack access to regular health check-ups and education on managing these conditions.
Our Outreach Efforts
Our health outreach program aimed to bridge this gap by providing:
- Free blood sugar and blood pressure screenings
- Educational sessions on diabetes and hypertension management
- Healthy lifestyle tips and resources
- One-on-one consultations with healthcare professionals
